We decorated 400 bags!

About our project: The second graders at Ft. Rucker Elementary School in Alabama decorated 400 grocery bags with Earth Day messages that were ret used at the commissary. Many customers expressed enthusiasic comments as they picked up their groceries in the colorful sacks recognizing that the students had done the work and were learning about how to safeguard our Earth. There were many other activities the second graders participated in as they learned about protecting the Earth. They also collected 14,000 aluminum cans, planted flowers for the courtyard, picked up litter around the school, made fashionwear from recycled items, and learned a poem or song about protecting the Earth. Each second grader and all of the teachers made a pledge to improve our planet at the Earth Day Celebration which was the culminating event for the unit of study.

We decorated 85 bags!

About our project: For the second year, all second graders at Dannelly Elementary School enjoyed decorating the bags loaned to us by our friendly neighborhood grocery store, Super Foods. Second graders also learned about the three R's from "Professor Environmental", picked up litter, recycled classroom paper, worked in the second grade garden, and sat back after their hard work to enjoy "dirt pudding" made from crushed oreos, chocolate pudding, and gummi worms.

We decorated 500 bags!

About our project: Our school has 613 students. We had 500 bags to return to Lanett's Kroger Store. The bags were used on Sunday April 22 to bag customer's groceries and share the message that students at Lanett Central Elementary are environmentally conscious. Students enjoyed sending their message. On Friday afternoon, some of the students delivered the bags to the store.
