We decorated 200 bags!

About our project: As part of a month long celebration of our earth and its environment, the children in our school participated in this activity during computer classes. Our students enjoyed sharing their message with the adults of the local communities. We even received thank you cards from people in surrounding communities.

We decorated 400 bags!

About our project: Our school sponsored an integrated specialist's unit for Earth Day's Anniversary. In the Computer Lab, the children visited the Earth Day site, looked at some of the previous year's contributions, and watched the powerpoint presentations. We then discussed the meaning of Earth Day, why it began, and why we still need to build environmental awareness. Over the next two computer class periods, the children designed and colored their grocery bags. They were very proud of their work and anxious for shoppers to receive their messages. About a week later we received a letter from a parent in a nearby town thanking us for our efforts. The children were thrilled. This has been a wonderful experience! It's a great program!

We decorated 448 bags!

About our project: The whole school worked on bags this week. The students loved the project. The third grade (about 75 students) then delivered the Earth Day bags to our local grocery store, Roy's Market on Earth Day. It was a beautiful day and we walked downtown. The local paper was there to photograph all of the students holding up their bags in front of the store and we then left them there to be loaded with groceries for the day's patrons. It is a wonderful, simple idea. Thank you!
