We decorated 825 bags!

About our project: Okatie Owls had a wonderful time during Art class decorating the Earth Day Bags. The best part was going to one of our local grocery stores and having our groceries bagged with an offical Earth Day Grocery Bag. This project was a big hit among teachers and students alike. What an amazing way to involve school and community in working together to promote Earth Day. We look forward to participating in next year's project!

We decorated 18 bags!

About our project: Once I found out about the project idea, I introduced it to the kids here at our facility. They were very interested in participating so I visited with our local BI-LO grocery store and they were just as eagered to participate with us. They donated the grocery bags and we were on our way. We have 18 clients and all of them created a bag to represent Earth Day. They appreciated the fact that there are some positive ways to give back to the community and it definitely boosted their self-esteem to see their art work in the grocery store. Thanks a lot for allowing us to participate in a positive way!

We decorated 100 bags!

About our project: This was our first time doing this project and we really enjoyed it. We used it within our creative writing and art classes. We worked on the project through two 45 minutes classes. The first week we learned about Earth Day and talked about what we could do as individuals and as a group to help make our Earth a better place to live. We then started working on our bags and worked on them throughout the next week's class. The students decorated their bags with drawings, poems, and quotes. I delivered all the bags back to Publix on Friday and they used them on Saturday and Sunday. We kept a few of our most beautiful bags to be used in our traveling art show. It was a very successful project and I plan to participate with ALL of our 1000 + members next year.

We decorated 678 bags!

About our project: Students once again enjoyed participating in the Earth Day Grocery Project. Classes from kindergarten-fifth grade read stories, watched videos, and brainstormed lists of ways we can show our love for the Earth. As a follow up, recycling assemblies presented by Greenville County Recycling will be held for all grades.

We decorated 250 bags!

About our project: I heard about this project through the Earth's Birthday Project with International Paper. I showed my students the get started PowerPoint and opened it up to the whole school. We had a huge amount of participation and completed over 200 bags. Bi-Lo is the school's business partner and was more than happy to help. They loved getting the decorated bags to give out to the community.
