We decorated 400 bags!

About our project: This is the first year for the students at Robinsonville Elementary, a new school of only two (2) years in Tunica County, to participate in the Earth Day Bags Project. Bags were decorated with enviornmental themes by students in grades kindergarten through five. Second Grade Teachers, Charlotte Maxwell and Kim Barnes directed the school's examplery efforts to inform the community of Tunica County, Mississippi, of the need to conserve energy and to protect our enviornment. Thanks to Save-A-Lot and Kroger of Southaven, Mississippi, the endeavors of the students at Robinsonville were met with great success! A special thanks to Catherine Cupples, columnist for the Tunica Times, the local newspaper here in Robinsonville, (www.tunicatimes.com), for the fantastic coverage of our participation in the 10th Annual Earth Day Bags Project. We look forward to joining you again next year in 2004.

We decorated 500 bags!

About our project: Tupelo High School conducts what we call "Finally Friday" activities with our science students. As a department, we have our students do science activities, every other Friday. Some days we go outside, sometimes in the labs, etc. for activities. Students "borrowed" bags from local businesses and we decorated "Earth Day " Bags, on April 4, 2003, to increase public awareness comcerning Earth Day. THS will have an Earth Day Celebration for our students on April 17, 2003
