We decorated 300 bags!

About our project: The Big Y in Monroe, Connecticut generously donated the brown bags for us. They were very cooperative and wonderful to work with. We got our bags a month before earth day, and distributed them to all the classrooms. We weren't able to incorporate them into our art class, because the curriculum had already been set in art. The kids were supposed to bring them back in on a due date. We did not get 100% back. The ones we did get back were creatively decorated. Next year, I'd like to get them incorporated into art so they all do them in class and we get 100% participation. Maybe even have the art teacher go through why we do it and present some ideas of messages to convey on the bags. Also, Earth Day fell on our spring break this year. Some of the kids were unable to see their bags distributed.

We decorated 1030 bags!

About our project: The children had a wonderful time with this project, and the community loved it! I had one representative from each class be in charge of picking up and returning the bags to my classroom. This helped with distribution. What a great way to celebrate Earth Day! Thank you so much for the opportunity.

We decorated 700 bags!

About our project: This was our first year participating in this program, and the response was terrific. Students and teachers were all excited to join in the effort to encourage others to keep our Earth clean. Our school is continually looking for ways to interact with the community, and decorating Earth Day bags certainly is one way to do that.
