We decorated 70 bags!

About our project: I came across this website while searching for Earth Day ideas. We didn't have much time to plan, but still had a lot of fun. It also counted for some of their conservation requirements. Next year, we plan to have some of our boys actually help bag the groceries and then put their picture in the paper.

We decorated 130 bags!

About our project: We have had a wonderful time with this project! We used this as a buddy project since our school encourages buddy activities. We began a couple weeks before April 22nd, learning about why it's important to care for the Earth. Reading stories, learning songs, etc. By the time it's time to decorate the bags, the students are fired up with several ideas. Before decorating, we brainstorm ideas for slogans and sayings to write on the bags. The ideas are listed on chart paper for students to refer to while decorating. I also found it helpful to search for Earth Day printables and have them available for students to color and glue to their bags. Most students used a printable for one side of their bag - and drew their own picture and slogan on the other side. They turned out beautiful - and so creative! I will continue to do this project for years to come. I highly recommend it!(I'd love to include pictures, but I don't have permission from all parents of the students.) Kelly R. Cole
