About our project: This was our second year to participate, however the boys and girls enjoyed decorating the bags just as much this year as last. It is a terrific project. Thanks. K.S.

We decorated 350 bags!

About our project: Janann Dostal and Lynn Gerardy organized the Earth Day Grocery Bag project which was a big success at Lincoln Elementary School. All students in the school, grades K-6, decorated a bag with an Earth Day message. Bags were provided by Eagle Country Market, one of our school business partners and distributed over the Earth Day weekend. This was one of the several all-school activities we participated in during our celebration of Earth Day. The kids were all very enthusiastic about the project and we hope to continue it in future years. Thanks to Eagle Country Market for participating in this project with us.

We decorated 50 bags!

About our project: Valley 7th graders participated in a state-wide Iowa Communications Network program this past fall called, Forestry Connections. They learned about forests in the state of Iowa. We wanted to do a follow-up project related to earth day 2000. We tied this project to the forestry topic by having the 7th graders do internet research on the topic of Iowa forests. Their grocery bags had to include at least 2 facts about Iowa forests that they uncovered during their research. The bags were shared with our local grocery store and distributed to customers on Earth Day.
