We decorated 710 bags!

About our project: I made the offer to the teachers to participate in the grocery bag project. All except one of them chose to be a part. I spoke with the manager at our local grocery store, and was met with great enthusiasm for the project. We had done the project before, and he had remembered the positive comments from the customers. Each student was given a bag to decorate with crayons or colored pencils (markers, especially water-based, are too messy, and the colors rub off on the customers' clothing) expressing an Earth Day message. This is a project that is not time-consuming, but worthwhile for the students. Some classes did the project with their cross-grade level buddies. The classroom teachers returned the bags to me and I delivered them back to the store. The store manager commented that he had overheard kids come in and be proud to see their schools' bags there even if they couldn't fine their own.
