We decorated 1100 bags!

About our project: All three grades at Churchill Jr. High in Galesburg, IL decorated paper grocery bags for Earth Day. Most students completed two bags. Threee large grocery stores participated: Hy Vee, Econo Foods, and Eagles. Each grade used bags from a different store. The students used a wide variety of environmental ideas on their bags. The bags were returned to the stores the Friday before Earth Day and used for customers starting on Sunday, April 21.

About our project: This was our first year. We did it as a voluntary project. Out of 286 students, 186 bags were decorated. They did a wonderful job. The people in our community enjoyed seeing the bags when they shopped at our small-town store.
