We decorated 70 bags!

About our project: Our group had a great time decorating the grocery bags at one of our 4-H meetings. This is a fun project that gets everyone involved, and reminds the kids and the grocery customers how important Earth Day is! The last time we did this project, our club received a thank you note from a woman who had received a grocery bag. She went out of her way to find out which organization decorated the bags so she could send a note. Thanks for giving us the opportunity to participate in this project!

We decorated 500 bags!

About our project: This year Grandview Heights Middle School participated in their first Earth Day bags project. Class teachers and our FCS teacher, Mrs. Bensen, led the students in making their bags - many made 2 or more! There was a LOT of enthusiasm from all and we made over 500 bags! The kids really enjoyed being part of such a special worldwide project! The most prevalent themes were "Save the Earth" and "Don't Litter". Our local paper, "Grandview this Week", did a front page article including interviews with several 7th graders from Mrs. Powell's class. We are very excited to participate again next year and hope to coordinate with another school overseas through students' friends and families. Thank you!

We decorated 300 bags!

About our project: This year Grandview Heights participated in their first earth day bags project. In our elementary school, Robert Louis Stevenson, the art teacher, Mrs. Schooley, led the classes in making their bags. There was a LOT of enthusiasm from all and we made over 300 bags! The children really enjoyed being a part of such a special project and many students went with their families to our local Kroger's to get a bag on Earth Day. We displayed some of the bags in our hallways before they were delivered to the grocer. The most prevalent themes were "Don't Litter" and "Stop Smoking". We are very excited to participate again next year and make even more bags to help our community "Save the Earth". Thank you!

We did a can recycle project along with our bags. We collected 88 pounds of cans in 4 months. We also learned natural ways to clean around our home.
