We decorated 60 bags!

About our project: Our local Kroger store was eager to participate in the Earth Day Bags program with us. We picked up the bags from them and returned them on Earth Day. They looked great! The students loved doing the art work and felt really proud that their drawings were on display at the store. This is a great project that we will participate in each year.

We decorated 900 bags!

About our project: This was our third year participating in this project and the entire school, K - 5 took part. We really enjoyed decorating our bags this year and had some true works of art! I wish I had pictures~I'll have to that next year! The bags were donated to us by our business partner, Kroger. They also allowed us to display posters in the store promoting our Earth Day bags. During the decorating we focused on environmental issues. We also experimented with various art materials in decorating the bags, wrote poetry on the bags, included bilingual messages to reach our community with our Earth Day "reminders", and teachers and students used technology to view this website in order to learn more about the project. This is a project that gets better each year!

We decorated 19 bags!

About our project: My students were very excited about decorating and learning the importance of rescycling. I plan on using this lesson every year, because of the excitement and end results. I believe the students understand a little bit better the importance of recycling and using things over again and not just disgarding them. I'm not sure how to submit the photos???
