We decorated 210 bags!

About our project: I chose to do this project because it was something I could do on my own and didn't cost me money. I am very active in FFA and 4-H and I thought this project tied in well with my interest in Agriculture, Environmental Awareness and stewardship of the land. Our school is going through some really tough times right now and staff and student morale is suffering. This was something the kids were excited about especially when I told them they would get national recognition. It was good timing to get the Earth Day word out and pick up the spirits of some kids. Next year I'm going to do the Whapeton ND schools too. Breckenridge MN and Whapeton ND are twin towns. Our local paper wouldn't even do a story, when I wrote up the story and had photos. I made a neat shirt that had a great photo of the world and it said Grocery Project and National Earth day on it.

We decorated 200 bags!

About our project: We participated in the Earth Day Groceries Project by adding the project to one of our weekly family nights where we provide various activities for families to particpate in after school. The theme for the family night was Earth Day so the project fit in perfectly and ended up being one of the main highlights of the evening. The bags were returned to Cub Foods on Earth Day and were distributed to the community.

We decorated 500 bags!

About our project: Students participated in a school-wide environmental day on Friday, 4/20 that included speakers, presentations, computer surveys, bag decoration, recycling boxes, movie on global warming, and planting over 100 trees. Student were proud to be participating in the bag project knowing that shoppers would see our school's concern and support of the environment. We are looking forward to continuing this project in years to come and will aim to get all students to complete at least one bag during their advisory time in school to help represent our support in our community.

We decorated 250 bags!

About our project: At our school, we have "buddy rooms" where each older grade level works with a younger grade level to work on different characteristics (IE: respect, empathy etc) and this was a buddy activity we did for Earth Day. All the students decorated bags in their buddy groups. We had a lot of fun and some beautiful bags were made.

We decorated 460 bags!

About our project: This was Baxter's first year to participate with decorating grocery bags for Earth Day. The students and teachers had a great time decorating the bags and discussing Earth Day! We will want to do this again next year! Thanks to Cub Foods of Baxter, MN for donating 500 bags for us!
