We decorated 60 bags!

About our project: I came across the information for earthday bags while reading about environmental issues and thought this would be a fun and educational activity I could do in my art class. It was a great learning experience and the kids enjoyed the idea of seeing their bags in the grocery store.

We decorated 600 bags!

About our project: The Youth Volunteer Corps (YVC) Club at Parkway teamed up with the Student Council for this years Earth Day Grocery Bag Project. Each student received 2 bags, one to decorate for each store. Then Mrs. Renee Burress, the Student Council Representative and myself, Sonya Baker YVC Program Coordinator delivered the bags on Saturday the 21st to be used on the 22nd. I also made 3 posters for each store to hang that let customers know that it was Earth Day and to recycle and reuse. I think the tip I would offer is to make sure that students are not having their end of the year tests. The students were testing so I think that had an effect on how many bags were actually turned in. I know that the YVC will be doing this project every year to come for Earth Day.

We decorated 217 bags!

About our project: After introducing the idea of Earthday bags for groceries, my students were very excited. We checked with a local grocery store and they were generous enough to lend us bags, so we decorated them appropriately and sent them back.

Look at our pictures!

We decorated 100 bags!

About our project: The first grade students at West County Elementary decorated 100 grocery bags with environmental earth day messages. This was a fun and exciting way to promote earth day and its meaning to the community. The students were very excited and thought of some wonderful slogans. We really enjoyed being a part of the project. The bags were delivered to County Mart and distributed to customers on April 22. The store was more than willing to be a part of the project. It was a huge success!!!!!
