We decorated 340 bags!

About our project: Our whole school decorated the bags with pictures/environmental messages about the Earth. My class went on a field trip to deliver the bags from our school to Albertson's. We delivered the bags a few days before Earth Day, and Albertson's hung up the bags around the store for the shoppers to see. While we were there, Albertson's took us on a tour of the store. This is something I've done for the past couple of years, and it is always enjoyed by the students, shoppers, and store.

We decorated 571 bags!

About our project: This is the first year that Loma Linda has participated in the project. We were very excited. The students worked hard on the project and took lots of pride in their work. The awareness of how important it is to take care of the Earth and everyone and everything in it came through in the students' bags and I'm sure they impacted everyone who received a bag.

We decorated 125 bags!

About our project: Morristown Elementary students decorated 125 white paper shopping bags for Bashas’ food store in Wickenburg. The theme displayed on the bags was Earth Day. These bags were distributed by Bashas’ on Saturday, April 22 in celebration of Earth Day 2006. On Friday, Morristown staff members wore Earth Day t-shirts. Classrooms did various activities including dirt making (yummy), a walking field trip to clean up the community, and general cleaning of the playground area. In my classroom, we celebrate Earth Day all week, and we call it Earth Week. This year the school was awarded an Earthfest Education Grant through Valley Forward to plant a school salsa garden and a butterfly garden at our schools nature trail. My first graders did a lot of gardening during Earth Week.
