We decorated 331 bags!

About our project: On April 8th, my Kindergarten class started a unit on Space. We read books, we played pretend, we practiced our Math and French writing, we sang songs, we built rockets and space shuttles, we played games, we took pictures, all on the theme, Space. As an ending to our unit, we talked about the Earth Day Project and wanted to include the whole school. We went to our local supermarket, Loblaws, in Vaudreuil-Dorion and asked if we could borrow bags for our project. They were thrilled. All the teachers decided to talk to their classes about the project. The kids brainstormed ideas on what to write and what to draw. We also talked about what medium to use to draw on the bags and figured out that pastels weren’t such a good idea. (It stains)Every child in the school decorated at least one bag. They were beautiful. Furthermore, we decorated posters for the grocery store. They had a display in front of the cash register. The children also hung their amazing posters in our school. We were very proud of them. A letter to the parents informed them of our school project. Thank you to children, the teachers, our principal, Loblaws Grocery Store and the Earth Day Project organizer, who made this project an innovative way to celebrate Earth Day.

We decorated 305 bags!

About our project: The children had a wonderful time handing out the bags to Loblaws clientele. Everyone was so impressed with the artwork, and happy to receive a free decorated bag.
