We decorated 465 bags!

About our project: All students were excited to decorate grocery bags. Each class completed their bags with slogans and reminders to be kind to the earth. Our local Zehrs supermarket was eager to supply us with the needed bags. Parents and children were anxious to shop so they could receive a decorated bag.

We decorated 150 bags!

About our project: Our students did a wonderful job of decorating 150 bags for 3 local businesses as part of our Earth Day 2001 celebrations. They drew pictures about protecting wildlife, forests, and oceans and remembering the 3Rs and composting. Thank you to our Principal, Mrs. Scott, and her staff for their continued support of this project and Nature's Fire, Alternatives Food Store and Country Depot for donating the bags. Great job everyone!

We decorated 100 bags!

About our project: The managers at A & P were thrilled with the idea when I asked them to become involved. They are planning to display the bags for the next few weeks. I did come across one problem, the children signed their names and school on the bags, and the store must cover the names for reasons of confidentiality. The students loved creating the Earth bags - they were excited at the thought of seeing their bag at the store. This important environmental project makes learning meaningful. Look forward to it next year, and hopefully the whole school will get involved! Thank you Nicole Palazzi Windsor, Ontario

We decorated 182 bags!

About our project: What a great project! Children from Junior Kindergarten to Grade Six at Winchester Public School beautifully decorated 182 grocery bags for Andy’s Foodtown. Mrs. Walsh and her Grade Fours walked to Andy’s on the Friday before Earth Day to deliver the bags and present Andy’s with a certificate of participation. They were warmly received and rewarded with a surprise of cookies and juice. The Winchester Press was even on hand to take their picture.
