We decorated 375 bags!

About our project: This year our school participated in the Earth Day Grocery Project and it was a huge success. Students from Kindergarten through to Grade 8 decorated the bags, in both French and English, with Earth Day messages and had a great time sharing ideas and concerns about the Earth with each other. We would like to thank the staff of the IGA on Colbourne Street in Brantford for their support with this project and for helping us in making this project a success. The staff and students of Mt. Pleasant can't wait to participate next year.

We decorated 157 bags!

About our project: The grocery store was so cooperative and supportive. The children absolutely adored the activity and it was a great opportunity to talk about Earth Day. The day before, the Green Team, went class to class with a skit reminding students about reducing, reusing, recycling and Earth Day. The students and teachers wore green for Earth Day and decorated our bags during lunch recess. The older students helped the younger ones with any printing or drawing, if necessary. The atmosphere in the gym was of peace, fun and helpfulness. A very worthy activity! Cheryl, from Guthrie Elementary

We decorated 50 bags!

About our project: I always do a mini unit on Earth Day in my classroom in April. This year I have tied this unit with a study of the Amazon Rainforest. Previously Pizza Nova participated with us on this wonderful project. The kids were thrilled to once more show in drawings and words their appreciation of Planet Earth. All the bags will be eventually given out to customers, but some are now on display at the Pizza Nova Store. You may visit our website, http://www.geocities.com/mel_and_1999/index.html to view the kids' work.
